Writing this Green app for Island is actually a really fun experience.  It's like going full-circle, since my first LJ RP app EVER was of Gary Oak, for Island.  It sucked very much, but this time I know what I'm doing.

... just wish this history wasn't so fucking long, jesus christ I'm not even up to writing the summary of the Yellow arc yet and I have to get all the way to the end of LG/FR.  I'll just do a canon update for everything after that at some point.

--aha but seriously it's fun, I'm a Warrior (WHICH APPARENTLY IS CONSIDERED TO BE A WEAK CLASS BY HALF THE PEOPLE I TALK TO BUT FUCK THAT ), and it's the best class ever. Let me explain why.

The Warrior uses FURY.

So when he uses his Thunder Clap ability, which launches a shockwave of lightning, it's not magical. THAT IS LIGHTNING OF PURE ANGER AND RAGE. I'M LIKE A MOTHERFUCKING SITH LORD. And the final Fury ability it learns at level 80? Let me read you part of its description.

"While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but you cannot perform any other abilities, but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed."

Why would I ever want to be anything else.

I JUST REMEMBERED.

In spite of what I originally thought, Tenchi Muyo was NOT my first enjoyable experience with anime. No, that happened at a MUCH younger age...which is the only reason this is even remotely excuseable.( LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, MY FIRST ANIME )

I need music. Specifically, old nostalgic music that probably came out when I was kid. I'm talking Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, Ricky Martin, the good shit. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, would be to list as many of those sorts of songs that you can think of which are also worth listening to even now. If you're not sure, add it to the list anyway, I can always delete it later.

Watched two movies over the past two days; I'm not usually a movie person, but I was compelled.

First was The Last Dragon, a movie about a black kid named Leroy who studies the martial arts and is in search of the last level of enlightenment; "The Glow", as it is called. The plot is silly, there are random bad musical numbers tossed into the film for no real reason, and it's not exactly a masterpiece. But it's not supposed to be taken seriously, and if you watch it with that mindset, you'll find a surprisingly enjoyable film, with a few enjoyable characters (I must admit, Leroy reminds me of Sousuke, if he was black and into Bruce Lee instead of the military).

Next came The Shawshank Redemption, which is a COMPLTELY different sort of film so I won't even bother comparing the two. It's safe to say this is still one of my favorite movies of all time; it's not terribly exciting, but it doesn't have to be because it's not that type of movie. That's what I like the most; the movie is what it is, and doesn't try to be anything else. Everyone played their parts stupendously (Morgan Freeman, obviously, but even the minor characters were sensational). Honestly, I recommend this movie to just about everyone who doesn't mind a bunch of cursing and a bit of implied rape (it's a movie about prison, what do you expect?). THIS one, I think, can be safely labeled a masterpiece.

My phone has degraded into a piece of shit. As in, randomly buttons will serve the purpose of other buttons. FOR EXAMPLE, pressing the number 3 will:

On the main screen: dial 3
In a text message: act as the "send" button
In any other menu: exit everything and return to the main screen.

The others so far seem to be completely random, and whenever I try to go up and down on a menu I either press it nine times and it moves once, or I press it once and it skips ahead eight options and enters whatever it lands on.

...you know what irks me now and then? 

When we broke up, my ex and I promised to stay friends.  Before you ask, no, NO, I don't want to get back together with her.  It wasn't working out, and it wasn't going to; we had our differences that weren't going to settle properly.  But we agreed to be friends.  That was mutual.

I'm a man of my word.  I thought she was fairly honest, too.  But...well, it's like this.

ME: Respond showing amusement
HER: does not respond/responds with an emote and nothing more

And don't bother asking how I react when she addresses me.  She doesn't.  Well, rarely.  Very rarely.  It's been a year since we broke up, why does this still have to feel so awkward?

Again: Please do not misunderstand, readers, I don't want to date this girl again.  My feelings for her are only platonic, and have a 0% possibility of escalating past that.  But she was a good friend, a very good friend, and I miss that.  

I hate seeing relationships spoil friendships.  Don't exactly know why I expected this would be any different.

...so.  Any advice on how to break the ice and try to rekindle a friendship, or do you guys figure I'm going after a lost cause?
